Sleeve braces are the simplest and most affordable type of knee brace. They are typically made from soft, stretchy materials and are worn by pulling them over the foot and up onto the knee.
These braces provide compression, warmth, and mild support, which may help relieve mild to moderate symptoms of knee OA. They are often best suited for people with generalized knee OA (where two or more knee compartments are affected), or when the pain is diffuse and not limited to a specific area of the knee.
OA can sometimes make your knee feel unstable, as if it might "give way." This can lead to guarding behaviours, where you subconsciously avoid putting weight on the joint. A sleeve brace may offer a sense of mild stability, which can improve confidence during movement.
